Emma Gliori  works in abstract conceptual form and uses mixed media.

Picture
Emma Gliori has lived in Aix-en-Provence and Rome, where she began to study the history of art in situ. Always looking at art, past and present.

I have applied the term 'Naffism' to my art. There is a history of 'naff' through all the ages of art. I like the 'naff' in art so much I have defined my art by it. The 'naff' in my art comes from the Romanticism and Classicism it is based on.

I think it is difficult, if not impossible, to paint/form portraits that aren't 'naff' ! I force this to the extreme in portraying my portraits and, therefore, I think I can attach the term as a defining 'ism' or 'ist' to my art.

I can't help but portray the contradiction of the perception of the 'Bella : Brutta' in the people I paint. A defining concept in both Romanticism and Classicism.

I work in abstract:conceptual form. I use mixed media.

I have an on-going 'portrait of the artist' using Twitter/Blogging on my website: www.poppet-portraits.com

I only paint/form portraits.
