Mary Walker
![]() Mary Walker grew up on a farm in Dorion Ontario and competed her education in Port Arthur Ontario, eventually taking up a career in the dental field. Mary always enjoyed detail, working with her hands.
She discovered quilling on a trip to Florida in 1974. Many workshops later a new love was born. Upon retiring to the Okanagan valley in 2000 she again pursued her love of this lost art. Mary’s love of nature, animals, and her keen observation serve her well. A sense of humour underlies many pieces. She uses multi mediums to add dimension and life to her art. {Encaustic, Iris Folding, sculpture, photography and paper/leaf cutting} Mary has traveled many rooms of this space ship, Africa, China, Europe, Alaska, Panama, United States and more than once, ocean to ocean in Canada. Her passions other than quilling are piano, nature, birds and her dogs. Artist Statement: “Discombobulated This artist is moved and inspired by Eagles. She has experienced Eagle events that continually influence her life and her art. “Discombobulated’ is a message to mankind. We are disconnecting; to nature, each other and our higher selves. How will you change this? Does it matter? Artist Statement: “Two Inquisitive Owls” Humour is like art to remain human we must never lose the ability to laugh and create. Wise though Owls are, two of these fellows are seeking something; neither all knowing, or complacent they wonder about what lies in those branches: or what will morning bring or what was that strange smell. More importantly what do you think they are inquisitive about? Or does it matter/ perhaps they are happy just being cute. |
