Mary Walker spends her time in the forest near her, walking her dog; when not quilling, she plays the piano.

Picture
Mary is inspired from nature and history. She spends her time in the forest near her, walking her dog; when not quilling, she plays the piano. Quilling is a lost art from the 13 th century. Mary desires to return it to its former glory and most importantly create a 3 dimensional world with quilling. Each piece is one of a kind and expresses Mary’s desire to inform and entertain. Mary especially enjoys teaching this art to others, that they may also continue to keep it alive.

Mary’s “Pristine Peacock” is a girl who desires to be as pretty as the male peacock. She refuses to do her laundry when all dressed up. “Almost Free” has been in a show who’s theme required depiction of Natures dilemma. See the Heron almost lifting free of humans URBAN entrapments. (a fence). Will he regain his freedom? Will we? “ Pompous Peacock” is just fun. Mary does have a sense of humour. This headdress was worn in a wearable art show in Port Moody Gallery in B.C. Mr. Peacock sends you an arrogant expression.

Each quilled creation is made by rolling special edged quilling paper, the smallest 2.5” long and 1/8” wide into a coil, shaped and glued together to build her inspired art.
