Nikki Smith

Nicolette (Nikki) Smith is a fine artist living in Bloemfontein, South Africa. There are few known facts on the private life of this highly talented lady; she was born in 1968 in Cape Town and moved with her family to Bloemfontein in 1974, attending the famed Eunice Girls School in Bloemfontein, matriculating in 1987. Nicolette started drawing from an early age and has never stopped painting and drawing. During the late 1980’s she studied fine art under renowned South African artist and teacher Johann du Plessis. Very little of her works painted during the 1990’s and 2000’s are available as she mostly painted by commission.
Nicolette is a widow and has two teenage children. She works from her art studio at her home in Andries Pretorius Street, Bloemfontein.
Nicolette reopened her art studio in 2012 and has since then produced a number of seascapes, landscapes, cityscapes and still life’s using various mediums, oils and acrylic paints, brushes and palette knives with varying formats, from traditional wooden boards to canvas. Nicolette’s inspiration comes from her love for her family and friends.
Famous artists such the Impressionists, Claude Monet, Pierré Renior and Alfred Sisley, Realist Edgar Degas and Pablo Picasso (the father of Cubism) have clearly influenced Nicolette. Clean fresh themes are the hallmark of this artist.
“ Ever since I can remember I have always has had crayon, pencil, pen, paint brush in my hand, to this day that’s who I am, for ever scribbling and drawing, only now I stick my drawings all over my studio walls. Every idea and picture in my mind must be explored to the full. I have a great passion for painting landscapes (Africascapes) and seascapes.
When I was at the lowest point in my life after my husband passed away, my greatest passion and dream saved my life and my soul.
Please enjoy my painting as much as I have enjoyed painting them.
