Viviane Bergevin
Viva B, born in Ottawa, Ontario thirty some years ago from French parents, is the product of her dual culture and nationality. Fully immersed in the Canadian culture, she draws her energy from the vast North American scenery and is supported by a large network of friends and family. From Europe, she maintains a cultural heritage acquired over time via frequent trips and long lasting memories. Since her early childhood, she has been surrounded by art and has gained an understanding and an appreciation for its many forms and beauty.
Unexpectedly, the need to paint imposes itself as a form of meditation, as a way to escape. Viva B suddenly becomes a product of the heritage granted by her grand-parents, a contemporary artist and a renowned high-end hotel decorator who met while studying at L’école des beaux-arts de Paris in a much different time. In them, the young artist draws a source of inspiration.
For this mother of three young children and biochemist by training, painting becomes a form of meditation. It allows her to express her creativity and to bring bold colours to the canvas of her life. In it she finds the art of life – an escape from linear existence.
